Meet our dedicated team

Joanne
Manager
I started my Early Years adventure in 2001 when I began studying for a BTEC Diploma in Early Years and I am also DSL trained. Over the course of 20 years I have worked my way up from Nursery Practitioner in a very busy Baby unit to the room leader in the Toddler unit then to Deputy Manager and now a Nursery Manager, and it's been an amazing journey! The joy of seeing a child grasp something you've taught is priceless. Those "aha" moments make everything worthwhile.

Ann-Marie
Deputy Manager
I began my career in Early Years as an Apprentice in 2013 and have enjoyed every minute of it since. It is truly rewarding to watch children embark on and complete their nursery journey while acquiring a multitude of new skills and characteristics along the way. I appreciate the varied nature of the role, as each day is different and I am constantly learning alongside the children.

Michelle
Nursery Practitioner
I work in the Baby Bears. Working with babies is incredibly rewarding. We help them with their first steps, listen to their first words, and see them grow into toddlers. With more than 20 years of experience in childcare, I've had the chance to work with different age groups, from babies to pre-schoolers, but the baby room holds a special place in my heart. It's a job filled with joy and satisfaction that I truly enjoy.

Anita
Nursery Practitioner / Housekeeper
I've worked at The Cornerhouse Nursery for 20 years. I've experienced working with all age groups, but I have a special bond with Babies. I chose childcare because witnessing children's growth, development, and readiness for the next chapter in their journey is truly rewarding

Phuong
Nursery Practitioner
I've been part of Cornerhouse Nursery for almost 4 years. I joined as an apprentice, and while completing my Level 3 qualification I gained experience with different age groups in various rooms. Now, I'm a qualified Level 3 nursery practitioner in Baby Bears. Working with children is amazing – watching them grow, plan activities, and see them achieve milestones like taking their first steps and starting to chatter is so satisfying. Being involved in babies' development journey is particularly thrilling.

Iram
Nursery Practitioner
I have five years of experience working with children. I started at Victoria Nursery and then moved to Cornerhouse Nursery. I am paediatric first aid trained, have Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Early Years Education, and am also DSL trained. I have worked with children of all age ranges, and I enjoy helping them develop and contributing to their care

Isobel
Trainee Nursery Practitioner
I began my Level 3 apprenticeship at the Cornerhouse in 2024, specifically working in Big Bears. I decided to start my career in childcare because it has been a passion of mine since I was young, and I love being a role model for the children here. It's incredibly rewarding to make a positive impact on their lives.

Mavis
Nursery Practitioner
I love working in Big Bears, it's so rewarding to help children grow and get them ready for the next step. What drives me as a practitioner is seeing the children develop and reach their goals. I find it especially fulfilling to prepare them for school by teaching important life skills and academic basics like recognising and writing letters from their names. It's amazing to be part of their journey towards becoming independent learners.

A few words from the nursery director
